I am very black and white. What I mean is, I see things as right or wrong, on or off. I have a very difficult time seeing gray and if I am being honest it makes it difficult for me to traverse the world because I know many people tend to be gray; people make decisions in the gray.

I don’t and it does make it difficult. Because I am black and white, people tend to get along with me or not get along with me. I am very blunt and honest when I speak and for those who appreciate cold, hard, honest truth, they accept it. For those that don’t, they don’t want to spend time with me.

But this brings me to the topic of fitness. I adamantly believe the right thing to do is be fit, the wrong thing to do is not be fit.

Oftentimes it seems people make fitness out to be simply a self-serving thing but when you look more deeply, you see it can have a positive or negative effect on those around you.

Example: if you have children and they want you to do a physical activity, it will be difficult or next to impossible if you don’t maintain a decent level of fitness.

Secondly, the way I see it, your physical health could save your life. There is truth, based on studies that obesity can lead to increased sickness with COVID and higher risk of death. Beyond that I see it as a way to potentially get yourself out of a bad situation or getting your loved ones out of a bad situation.

Now some might say I think too much into things but because I am so black and white I see things in extremes. So in my head, I play out scenarios. What if an active shooter shows up and I have to get out? My chances of escape are enhanced by being fit. What if I am in a situation and my wife gets injured and I have to carry her? Well, if I am not fit I am not going to be able to do that.

I am not talking about training to fight a bad guy. That is something entirely different. I am simply talking about being fit to make egress out of a situation. If you are overweight and out of shape that is going to be much harder for you.

Some might say why even worry about any of this? Well because I am black and white I can’t help but think this way.

The more fit you are, the easier things are to do. The less fit you are, the harder things are to do. Black and white. I just don’t see the gray.
