Cancer sucks. It seems way worse if it’s a kid. Did you know September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?
If you’ve read anything from Mental Grenade before, you hopefully realize that:
(1.) This Blog is NOT monetized (I’m not making any money. Anything sold from the store pays for website operating costs.)
(2.) Mental Grenade is designed to help people – If I just wanted to spew my opinion, there would be a LOT more posts and they wouldn’t be that great. I spend time to create and curate information and stories that mean something.
Let’s try and make the world a better place!
A Proclamation on National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, 2022 ( <–click the link to read the presidential proclamation )
My wife’s sister, Jessica, fought multiple different types of Leukemia for three years before finally losing her battle in 1994 at the age of 9. We also lost a family friend to liver cancer when he was just 17 years old. They deserved the chance to live a full life.
This month, I’m riding 300 miles in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids’ cancer! I will do my best to keep it on the trails. I want the challenge and struggle of riding in the dirt. Every mile is hard fought with tons of climbing. There will be no stationary bike. Rain or shine, these kids are fighting for their lives. I’m going to make every ride mean something. I don’t take this lightly.
Another Veteran turned me on to mountain biking and it’s been a HUGE benefit to my mental and physical health. Now it’s my turn to help someone else.
I’m taking on this challenge because more American children lose their lives to cancer than any other disease – 38 kids die every week.
It will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what these brave kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.
Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.
So today, I’m asking you to sponsor my challenge to end childhood cancer and save little lives.
Please support me the kids by making a donation through my fundraising page: <- Click Here
All funds raised will support Children’s Cancer Research Fund to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

These Veteran stories of struggle, adventure, and post traumatic growth need to be heard!
